~ Waimea Bay ~

"There always seems to be a party at Waimea Bay!"
-Surf Magazine

In celebration of "Aloha Friday" today - I bring to you . . .
Waimea Bay!

One of our most favorite and memorable adventures we took, was spending the day at Waimea Bay.  The weather was perfect - sun was out - picnic cooler full of food . . . we were here to stay!
We went snorkeling and saw a huge turtle (see 2nd picture posted) - played in the warm water - layed out in the sun - and were entertained for hours watching people jump off the famous cliff in the bay.

Not only is Waimea Bay known for its "epic" surf and competitions, but also for the cliff jumping/diving.
There was a really   b-i-g   Hawaiian guy that kept everyone entertained for the day.  The huge splash shown in the picture above is from him, followed by his well-known trick.  If you look really close, you will see a football flying in the air.  What this guy would do is carry a football up the cliff with him - jump off with the ball tucked under his arm, and then release it once he was in the water.  The pressure rocket-launched the ball straight up and OVER the people/cliff to the other side.  Applause errupted every single time he did it and we never got tired of seeing just how much higher he could launch it.  "So sick" (cool) as my 17 year old said every time he did it!

Have an "ono-licious" Aloha Friday all!!  And for a little more entertainment . . . enjoyyyyy!
