"'Tis Good To Be Irish"
In celebration of St. Patrick's Day today . . . here's a little background on just what this green day is all about!
One of the most famous legends about St. Patrick is how he drove all of the poisonous snakes out of Ireland and into the sea. In fact, there are no snakes in Ireland today. And that the power of the shammrock (the trinity) is what he used to do it. Thus one of the reason's we wear green on St. Patrick's Day - to keep those snakes from coming back and biting us. This is where the tradition of being "pinched" if you don't wear green comes from!!
Irish Blessing
May there always be work for your hands to do;
may your purse always hold a coin or two;
may the sun always shine on your windowpane;
may a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
may the hand of a friend always be near you;
may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
may your purse always hold a coin or two;
may the sun always shine on your windowpane;
may a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
may the hand of a friend always be near you;
may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
May the road rise to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
may the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields and,
until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
p.s. A four leaflet is a rare occurrence - Did you know that...
One leaf is for HOPE
The second for FAITH
The third for LOVE
The fourth for LUCK
