"I want you to be forever strong on the field,
so that you will be forever strong off the field."
- Coach Larry Gelwix - Highland Rugby Team
My hubby and I were asked to be one of the couple
"Tribal Parents" for our area Youth Conference.
We had 24 kids in our "Tribal Family" and it was one of the best experiences ever!"Tribal Parents" for our area Youth Conference.
The theme this year for the youth is based off of the scripture found in Joshua 1:9
"Be strong and of a good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the Lord thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest."
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the Lord thy God is with thee
whithersoever thou goest."
And the theme for Youth Conference was from the movie "Forever Strong". We camped out in the beautiful area surrounding Vail Lake in "Sundance Meadows." Friday night we watched the movie. Saturday, did a service project of painting the surrounding horse ranch fences. And with around 300 youth, were able to get it all done in just over an hour. We played "Survivor" games as teams (and came in 2nd place by a hair ... but 1st place for having the most FUN in our family!) - had a Luau, delicious food with entertainment including hula dancing and the "Haka" that's performed in the movie. The producer of the movie, David Pliler was a guest speaker after the entertainment - and spoke to the youth of how important it is to always stay Forever Strong, as it depicted in the story of the the movie. We had family devotionals, scripture and prayer each day. And on Sunday had church service out in the beautiful surroundings of nature - with an amazing young man, guest speaker who has overcome being paralyzed and can now walk with a cane.
The youth today are a generation above the rest. Our future leaders who are completely extraordinary and without a doubt a step above where I was at their age! What an amazing weekend to be surrounded by such incredible spirit's. We were truly blessed having been in their company!
p.s.... a little treat! ... the "Haka"! : )
